The plain-English version of how Activated is built, which companies help us run it, what we send them, where our information comes from, and the line between education and medical care.

The short version

Activated is a health and wellness technology company, operated by Activated Technologies LLC d/b/a Activated. We help you understand your health data and reach the licensed professionals and services that deliver care. We are not a healthcare provider, laboratory, or pharmacy, and we do not practice medicine.

Everything in the app is for education and personalization only.

Activated does not provide medical advice, does not diagnose, and does not replace a licensed clinician. Always ask a qualified healthcare professional about any medical condition, test result, or health decision.

Your consent to AI processing

Read this part closely. By using the AI features in Activated, you agree that the information described in this section is sent to the AI companies listed in the next one.

Four parts of Activated use AI:

• The Coach, the assistant you chat with
• Reading your lab reports, which turns an uploaded PDF or photo into markers
• Your Story, the written narrative of your results
• Listen, which reads the Coach out loud

If you would rather your information was not processed this way, do not use those four features. The rest of Activated still works without them. Your results, your ranges, your trends, your orders, and your plan are all still there.

Who processes your data

When you use an AI feature, your information is sent to these companies:

Both companies are based in the United States and process this data on servers in the United States.

What we send, and what we never send

What you hand over directly:

• The messages and questions you type into the Coach
• Symptoms, concerns, and goals you describe
• Lab reports and documents you upload

What we send along for context, so the answer is about you and not about a stranger:

• Your first name
• Your age, sex, height, and weight
• Your markers, their history, and the dates they were drawn
• Your plan and what is queued for today
• Which tests you have ordered and when a draw is booked, including the name of the draw site
• Whether your membership is active
• Your Story, your recent conversations, and notes the Coach has saved about you

What we never send:

• Your full name
• Your email address or password
• Any payment or billing detail, including your card and what you paid
• Your home address
• Your Social Security number or any government ID

One honest exception, because you deserve the real answer. A lab report you upload is sent exactly as it is so the model can read it, and labs print your full name and date of birth on the report itself. Those travel with the file. We cannot strip them without making the report unreadable.

How that data is protected

Everything sent to an AI company travels over an encrypted connection, and your data is encrypted at rest in our systems.

Your records are isolated per account, so they are visible only to you and to the systems serving you.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never use your health information for third-party advertising.

About the Coach, your Story, and your plan

The Coach, your Story, and your plan generate educational insights from what you have told us, the results you have uploaded, and general wellness knowledge.

What they produce:

• Is informational only
• Is not a clinical diagnosis
• Is not a treatment plan or a prescription
• Is not medical advice
• Should never be the only basis for a health decision

These answers are generated by artificial intelligence. They can be incomplete, they can be wrong, and they may not fit your particular situation.

Activated is built to help you understand your results and walk into a conversation with a licensed clinician better prepared. Not to replace that conversation.

How the Coach uses sources

The Coach can search the web while it answers you, and it is restricted to a fixed list of medical and scientific sources. It cannot search the open internet.

When the Coach draws on research it says so, and it shows you the sources it used. For ranges it uses our own optimal targets, described in the next section but one.

Where this falls short, plainly:

• The Coach may not cite a specific study for every sentence it writes.
• It often synthesizes several sources into general scientific consensus rather than quoting one paper.
• For a primary source, read the study itself or ask a licensed clinician.

How Activated is built to keep you safe

Wherever the app could be mistaken for medical advice, we say plainly that it is not, and we encourage you to involve a licensed clinician before making any medical decision.

The Coach is always honest that it is an AI. It never claims to be a person or a physician.

Nothing clinical happens on its own. Anything labeled clinician-guided is reviewed by a licensed clinician through a partner service before it can move forward.

We make no claim to diagnose, and we do not validate or generate clinical measurements.

What Activated is not intended to do

Activated is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition.

It does not replace an evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional.

It does not provide emergency or urgent medical guidance.

If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Do not wait for a reply in the app. Chat is not monitored in real time and is not an emergency channel.

Evidence standards and sources

Our educational content draws on published evidence, weighted in this order: peer-reviewed clinical research first, then large population datasets, then guidance from established medical and scientific bodies.

We give preference to human studies, to findings replicated across independent groups rather than a single paper, and to recent work where the science has moved.

The "optimal" ranges we show are wellness targets informed by that evidence. They are often narrower than the standard reference ranges printed on a lab report, and they are not diagnostic thresholds.

Some of the work behind the numbers you see:

• Your biological age uses PhenoAge, from Levine et al. 2018. We use the published coefficients exactly as they were fit, with no adjustment of our own.
• That measure was validated against NHANES IV by Liu et al. 2018.
• NHANES, the CDC survey of the health and nutrition of adults and children in the United States, is the population data underneath much of this.
• Our system-level ages build on the method in Klemera and Doubal 2006.

Evidence moves. We review and update content periodically, and we revise our targets as the research changes.

Lab testing and third-party services

Activated does not perform laboratory testing.

Sample collection and analysis are carried out by CLIA-certified laboratories and their collection partners. Analysis runs through Quest Diagnostics, draw sites include Labcorp locations, and the ordering is coordinated through our laboratory integration partner, Junction.

Any prescription product is evaluated and, where appropriate, prescribed by a licensed clinician through an independent telehealth partner, and dispensed by a licensed pharmacy. Activated is not a pharmacy and does not prescribe.

While parts of our testing and clinical network are still coming online, some areas of the app may show demonstration data so you can explore the full experience. Demonstration data is never presented as your real results.

Clinical oversight and escalation

The Coach and the rest of the app are educational tools. They are not a prescription pathway, and nothing they say creates a diagnosis or a treatment decision.

Decisions about prescriptions, dosing, and treatment are made by licensed clinicians exercising their own independent judgment. Never by app-generated content or scores.

When something looks urgent or sits outside what education can safely address, the app points you to a licensed clinician or to emergency care rather than trying to manage it.

Scores and reference ranges

Your Activation Score, your system scores, and your biological age are computed figures. They are built from your results combined with published research and statistical models.

They are designed to show direction and momentum over time. A way to see whether you are trending the right way.

They are informational only. They are not clinical measurements, they are not predictions about your health, and no medical decision should rest on them.

Where we can, we show the underlying values behind a score so you can see exactly what it is built from.

Regulatory and compliance

Activated is operated by Activated Technologies LLC d/b/a Activated, a Florida limited liability company (document L26000348660), trading under the fictitious name "Activated" registered with the Florida Department of State (registration G26000100392).

Activated is not a regulated medical device.

Activated is not a healthcare provider and is not a covered entity. The laboratories that analyze your samples are CLIA-certified, and any prescription is written by a licensed clinician and dispensed by a licensed pharmacy.

We keep internal review processes for our educational content and we work to stay aligned with applicable healthcare privacy and consumer protection standards.
